I just wanted this to work as a remote backup in case any of the cameras are vandalised. I somehow doubt this, but it is a possibility.The default setup provides limited video quality but in my case this is fine since the cameras themselves keep a HD version of the recordings. Lastly, the fans are loud! Now I didn't play around, but maybe it's because the wiring harness takes up so much room that cramming it all on the one side of the power supply reduces air flow, thus causing the fans to spin up at a higher RPM. So really it's just another annoyance, and not worth getting angry about. I was able to cram it all inside and get the covers closed back up, though. This adapter could stand to be shortened or something. The power supply can't directly hook into the OEM motherboard, so the shipper includes an adapter cable to hook it up. Which is great, because it needed to make up for the massive amount of space the adapter wires take up. The power supply unit itself is about an inch or so shorter than the OEM power supply. But since the ex485 isn't getting jostled around, it's not a big deal.
In my case, the mounting holes were just a touch off, and I could only get 2 of 3 screws to secure the power supply. And by near perfect, I mean it's almost not worth mentioning. This item is a near perfect replacement for the OEM power supply. Great Replacement to OEM Power Supply, WOULD Buy Again
